Lightning Lane

At a glance
  • Three pass types. Lightning Lane passes come in three types: Multi Pass (three pre-picked attractions), Single Pass (per-attraction pricing for the highest-demand attractions), and Premier Pass (all Lightning Lane attractions in one park, no arrival windows needed).
  • Tier system. Three parks use a Tier 1 / Tier 2 system for Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park has no tiers.
  • Book early. Disney Resort hotel guests can book seven days in advance starting at 7:00 AM Eastern. All other guests can book three days in advance.
  • Date-based pricing. Prices vary by date and park. Check the My Disney Experience app for current pricing on your travel dates.
  • Stack both passes. You can buy both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass for the same park on the same day. They work on their own.

Lightning Lane passes let you skip standby lines at Walt Disney World® Resort. There are three options:

  • Lightning Lane Multi Pass covers many attractions for a flat daily fee.
  • Lightning Lane Single Pass is a per-attraction add-on for the most in-demand attractions.
  • Lightning Lane Premier Pass unlocks every Lightning Lane attraction in a theme park for one day.

Prices vary by date, and you book everything through the My Disney Experience app.

What are Lightning Lane passes?

Every attraction at Walt Disney World Resort has a standby line. On busy days, that line can get long.

Lightning Lane passes let you skip the wait.

You pay for access to a shorter, separate entrance — and walk on much faster. In a nutshell, that’s how the Lightning Lane works.

You pick the attractions you want and choose an arrival window for each one through the My Disney Experience app. When your window comes, you head to the Lightning Lane entrance instead of the standby line. Tap in with a MagicBand/MagicBand+ or your phone, and you’re on your way.

There are three types of Lightning Lane passes. Each covers different attractions at different price points. You’ll need a valid theme park ticket to buy any of them. You may also need park reservations depending on your ticket type and travel dates.

If you visited during the Disney Genie+ era, the new system works much the same way — but you can now buy passes days before your visit.

Several Lightning Lane lineups are shifting in 2026. Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios closes March 1, 2026 and will reopen in summer 2026 as Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is getting updated storylines featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu launching May 22, 2026. And Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom Park is returning with new ride vehicles and effects in spring 2026. The attraction lists below reflect what’s currently available — check the My Disney Experience app for the latest.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass

Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a flat daily fee that covers multiple attractions in one theme park. You pick up to three attractions, choose an arrival window for each, and lock everything in before you arrive.

After you use your first Lightning Lane Multi Pass attraction on the day of your visit, you can add one more. If you have the Park Hopper® Option, you can use that extra pick at a different theme park — but once you make a selection at the new park, you can’t go back and pick at the earlier park again.

Three of the four theme parks split their Lightning Lane Multi Pass attractions into two tiers:

  • Tier 1. The most popular attractions. You can choose up to one Tier 1 attraction.
  • Tier 2. Everything else on the Lightning Lane Multi Pass list. You choose your other two attractions from this group — or you can skip Tier 1 and choose all three from Tier 2.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park does not use tiers. You pick any three attractions from the full list.

Lightning Lane Multi Pass also includes photo perks: digital downloads of select attraction photos and videos from your day.

Can you book Lightning Lane Multi Pass for more than one park?

Your first three picks must be in the same park. But after you use your first pick on the day of your visit, you can add an attraction in a different theme park if you have the Park Hopper Option. Once you make a selection at the new park, you can’t switch back to the earlier one. Plan your park hop order with this in mind.

For first-timers

Don’t waste Lightning Lane Multi Pass picks on attractions with short standby lines. Check wait times in the My Disney Experience app first. Save your picks for the attractions where the standby line is longest. Attractions like The Barnstormer and Mad Tea Party rarely have long enough waits to justify a Lightning Lane pick. A Good Story Vacations advisor can review your park days and build a day-by-day Lightning Lane strategy that matches your family’s priorities.

Lightning Lane Single Pass

Some attractions are so popular that they aren’t part of Lightning Lane Multi Pass. These are the headliners — the attractions with the longest waits in each park. Lightning Lane Single Pass lets you skip the line at these attractions for a separate per-attraction price. Each guest can buy up to two per day.

Each park has its own Lightning Lane Single Pass attractions:

  • Magic Kingdom Park. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle / Run
  • EPCOT. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Avatar Flight of Passage

You choose an arrival window when you buy, just like Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Disney prices each Lightning Lane Single Pass attraction on its own — they cost more because they cover the highest-demand attractions in each park.

You can buy both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass for the same day in the same park. They work on their own — buying one does not affect the other.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass

Lightning Lane Premier Pass is the all-in-one option. It covers every Lightning Lane attraction in a theme park for one day — both Multi Pass and Single Pass attractions. It’s the most expensive Lightning Lane pass, but it gives your family the most flexibility and the least to think about on park day.

The biggest difference: no arrival windows. You show up at any Lightning Lane entrance whenever you want and tap in. No planning, no scheduling — just go.

Lightning Lane Premier Pass also includes the same photo perks as Lightning Lane Multi Pass — digital downloads of select attraction photos and videos.

Disney sells Lightning Lane Premier Pass in limited quantities. On busy days, it may sell out. If your family wants the most flexible Lightning Lane option and you plan to visit during a busy period, buy early.

How to book Lightning Lane passes

Everything happens in the My Disney Experience app — the free app for planning your Walt Disney World Resort visit. You cannot buy Lightning Lane passes at the park gate, at your resort front desk, or through any other channel.

Here’s how to buy Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Single Pass:

  1. Open the My Disney Experience app and tap the Lightning Lane section on the home screen.
  2. Tap “Purchase Lightning Lane Passes.”
  3. Select a date, a theme park, and the pass type you want.
  4. Choose your attractions and arrival windows.
  5. Follow the prompts to finish your order and receive a confirmation.
  6. From the confirmation screen, tap “Plan Another Day” to buy another pass — or tap “View My Plans” to review your picks.

For Lightning Lane Premier Pass, tap “Purchase” in the Premier Pass section of the home screen instead. The rest of the process is similar, but you won’t need to choose individual attractions or arrival windows.

Before you begin, make sure everyone in your group is linked on your Family & Friends list in My Disney Experience and that everyone has valid theme park admission. You may also need park reservations depending on your ticket type and the date of your visit.

For multigenerational groups

Not everyone in the group has to pick the same Lightning Lane Multi Pass attractions. After buying, you can change picks for each person in your party. Grandparents might skip the roller coasters and choose calmer attractions like Kilimanjaro Safaris and Living with the Land while the rest of the family picks thrill attractions.

Tips for getting the most from Lightning Lane

  • Book at 7:00 AM sharp. The most popular attractions fill up fast — Tier 1 attractions go first. Set an alarm and open My Disney Experience right at 7:00 AM Eastern Time on the first day you can book. Resort guests who book 7 days out have a real edge here.

  • Pick Tier 1 first. You only get one Tier 1 pick per park with Lightning Lane Multi Pass. These are the attractions with the longest standby lines. Don’t leave this to chance. If you want Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom® Park or Frozen Ever After at EPCOT®, book Tier 1 first.

  • Don’t use Lightning Lane on short-wait attractions. Some Tier 2 attractions rarely have long standby lines. Using a Lightning Lane pick on an attraction with a 10-minute wait doesn’t save you much time. Save your picks for attractions where the standby line is 30 minutes or more.

  • Plan your day around Lightning Lane. Ride standby in the morning when lines are shortest. If you arrive at park opening or use Early Theme Park Entry, you can knock out popular attractions before the crowds build. Then use your Lightning Lane picks later in the day when standby lines grow.

  • Think twice about Lightning Lane at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Standby lines at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park are shorter on the whole. If you’re watching your budget, this is the park where Lightning Lane Multi Pass may matter least. Avatar Flight of Passage (Lightning Lane Single Pass) still draws long waits, though.

  • Use your first pick early. Once you use your first Lightning Lane Multi Pass pick on the day of your visit, you can add one more attraction. Using your first pick as early as you can gives you the best shot at adding more attractions later in the day.

A travel advisor can build a Lightning Lane plan into your family’s park days — matching pass types to each day’s parks, goals, and budget so you spend less time in standby lines and more time together.

Is Lightning Lane worth it?

It depends on when you visit and how you like to tour. On busy days, standby lines for popular attractions can stretch past 60 minutes. Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass cut that wait by a lot. Families with young kids, limited park days, or a packed must-do list get the most value. On lighter crowd days, you may be fine with standby lines alone.

For large groups

Everyone in the group needs their own Lightning Lane pass — there’s no group discount. A travel advisor can line up Lightning Lane buys for multi-family groups so everyone’s picks match and no one gets left out on park day.
