How should grandparents paying for a Walt Disney World trip set up the booking?
Grandparents can pay for the whole trip while each family keeps its own reservation. Disney takes payment from any valid credit or debit card, so a grandparent’s card can cover every room in one charge. Each room stays in the name of an adult who sleeps in it, and everyone links in My Disney Experience.
The setup, piece by piece:
- Start with a travel advisor. Choose whether to walk through the steps below with a travel advisor, who handles the bookings and the payments in one place. For grandparents, that is often the easier way to do it.
- Rooms and packages. Book one reservation per family, each with an adult as its lead guest . The rooms do not need separate payments: the grandparent’s card can cover them all in one charge, or in partial payments over time. The full balance comes due 30 days before arrival.
- Park tickets. One buyer can cover tickets for the whole group, and each ticket links to its guest through the Family & Friends list. A package can also bundle each family’s tickets with their room, so the group has fewer reservations to manage. For a large or multigenerational group, working with a travel advisor is the best way to set this up.
- The grandparents’ own room. Paying does not place the grandparents on anyone else’s reservation. Their room can be its own reservation, with its own lead guest.
Paying changes nothing about who runs the plans. The lead guest on each room can handle room requests and changes, or your travel advisor can. The grandparents see only the bills they chose to cover.
